Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Camper and RV Lights?

Camper and RV lighting includes the light fixtures and strip lights used to illuminate the interior and exterior of your RV/camper. Camper and RV lighting can be installed for both functional and decorative purposes. Our camper and RV lights are all backed by warranties, starting at two-years, with lifetime warranties available for select products.

Which Fixture Do I Need for My RV or Camper?

There are various fixture types available for RVs and campers, depending on both the purpose and the installation area (i.e., the interior or exterior). For accent or task lighting in the interior, consider installing dome lights or pivoting railing lights.  For interior overhead lighting, install puck lights or courtesy lights. Courtesy lights can also be used for accent lighting or for outdoor lighting, illuminating license plates, above doorways, along steps, and more. Vehicle area lights can also be installed along the entryway or awning.  Strip lights can elevate the design of the outside of your RV or awning, or be installed in the interior as under-cabinet lighting. Installing strip lights outside the RV/camper will need to have a higher IP rating (at least IP65 weatherproof) than those installed inside.

What Voltage Do Camper and RV LED Lights Use?

Most campers and RVs operate with a 12V power system, with certain newer or larger models using 24V. Always check the specifications of your RV before selecting lighting.

Are Exterior RV LED Lights Waterproof?

Lights installed outside your RV should have at least an IP65 rating to ensure they can withstand the outdoor elements. Installing lights built without full intrusion protection or protection from at least low-pressure jets can cause product failure and electrical issues.

Will LED Lights Attract Insects Outside My RV?

LED lights are less likely to attract bugs compared to traditional light fixtures because they produce little to no UV light and release minimal heat. If you want an even lower risk of insects, install our amber RV lights. Amber LED lights have longer wavelengths, making them less detectable by insects.

Can I Install RV LED Lights Myself?

RV lights can typically be installed on your own. Our product pages will also feature a ‘user manual’ which will provide you with the steps needed for installation. However, if you are unsure about the installation or need assistance, we recommend reaching out to a certified electrician.

Can Regular Fixtures Be Used in RVs?

Regular fixtures may be able to be installed in your RV, depending on your RV’s voltage constraints, particularly a 12V or 24V fixture. Additionally, implementing voltage adapters lets you convert higher voltage fixtures to match the voltage of your RV.
