White Flexible LED Strip Lights

How to Install LED Strip Lights
Before getting started, ensure you have all the supplies necessary: flexible LED strip lights, wiring, power supply, controller, etc. Our LED strip light kits include all the materials needed for installation.
Below are general instructions. However, the exact installation will vary depending on your application. Consult the product manual or the provided instructions.
-
Test the lights by plugging them into a power source, ensuring they function properly. Unplug after verifying.
-
Measure the location where you want the lights.
-
Clean the surface you are placing the lights and let it dry.
-
Cut the strip lights to the required length, but only in designated cut spots. Then, connect to a power source and test the lights once more. Disconnect from the power afterwards.
-
Remove the adhesive backing, align, and apply to the surface.
-
Connect to the power source.
You can use wire for strip lights to assist in connecting to the power supply.
To ensure you have enough wire for your application, we recommend a minimum of 25 feet of wire per 5 meters of strip in case cutting mistakes are made.
What CCT Should I Use For My White Flexible LED Strip Lights?
The CCT you need will depend on the purpose of your application. For areas where you want a more intense, blue-toned white, choose a strip with a natural or cool CCT (4000K or greater). If you desire a more relaxed environment or yellow-toned light, use a strip light with a warm CCT (2700K-3500K).
Use one of our tunable LED light strips, which allow you to change CCT between values. Most of our tunable strips can change between 2700K and 6500K. You must connect the strips to a controller, and then you can adjust the CCT with either a remote or smart app via phone or tablet. Dim-to-Warm LED strip lights allow the CCT to be switched between 3000K to 1800K, often for under-cabinet lighting to mimic incandescent lights. These strips can also be controlled through a remote or an app.

What Kind of Controller Do I Need?
All LED strip lights must be connected to an LED controller. The controller you should use will be based on the specifications of your strip light.
-
This includes the color options of the strip light– you might use a different controller for a strip that only emits one shade of white than for a strip light using tunable CCT.
-
Each controller will also have a voltage range it operates in, so only pair strip lights with a voltage that falls within those constraints.
-
Different controller options are also based on the number of control features you want. For example, we offer controllers that only adjust the brightness or ones that will change the brightness, CCTs, and modes.
Are White LED Strips Dimmable?
Yes, most of our white LED strip lights are dimmable from 0 to 100%. You can control the brightness of the strips using remotes and wall dimmers.
What is TLCI in Lighting?
The Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI) measures how precisely a film camera will depict colors under an artificial light source. On a scale from 1 to 100, with 100 being a perfect color depiction, any rating above 90 is considered ‘camera-ready’. We carry 99 TLCI strip lights, ensuring excellent color interpretation on camera.

What Voltage Do I Need for My Strip Lights?
The appropriate voltage will depend on your application. The greater the voltage, the longer the run the strip can provide. Our 12V and 24V strip lights are our most common options. 12V strips are commonly used for smaller applications, such as landscaping, under-cabinets, or vehicle lighting. 24V strip lights are more likely to be used for retail spaces, offices, or residential use. However, our highest available voltage is 120V strip lights, which are often used for larger commercial applications.
How Do I Know if the Strip Lights I Have Are Submersible, Weatherproof, or Waterproof? What Is the Difference?
To determine which type of LED strip lights you have, look at the IP rating and compare it to the chart below:
|
Strip Light Type |
IP Rating |
Purpose |
|
|
Non-Weatherproof |
IP20 |
No protection against any water droplets or condensation; Should only be installed in dry, indoor spaces. |
|
|
Weatherproof |
IP64 |
|
|
|
Waterproof |
IP65-IP67 |
Good for outdoor spaces such as swimming pools, decks, etc. |
|
|
Submersible |
IP68 and up |
Can be submerged in up to a meter of water and still perform. |
How many feet of wire will I need?
We tend to recommend a minimum of 25 feet of wire per 5 meters to ensure you have enough in case cutting mistakes are made.
Are white LED strips dimmable?
Yes, most of our white LED strip lights are dimmable from 0-100%. There are remotes and wall dimmers that can be used to control the brightness of strips.
How do I control the CCT of the white led strip lights?
To control the CCT, you will need a tunable LED light strip and and a controller. Most of our tunable white LED strip lights are able to change between 3000-6500K CCT.
What kind of controller do I need?
Depending on the LED light strips you choose, you have the option to control them with a remote, smartphone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wall switch, or inline wired controllers.
We offer controllers that only adjust the brightness to controllers that can be used to change the colors, brightness, CCTs, and modes.
This depends on your application. If you are mounting them in a vehicle, a 12-volt strip most likely would be required. For most applications, 12 volts will work unless you want longer runs, in which a 24-volt strip would be ideal.
