How do I install LED strip lights?
Before getting started, ensure you have all the supplies necessary: flexible LED strip lights, wiring, power supply, controller, etc. Our LED strip light kits make this a breeze and include everything you will need.
Below are general instructions. However, the installation will vary depending on your application. Consult the manual or provided instructions.
- Test the lights before getting started by plugging them into a power source, ensuring they function properly. Unplug after verifying.
- Measure the location in which you want the lights.
- Clean the surface you are placing the lights and let dry.
- Cut the strip lights to the required length making sure to only cut in designated cut spots. Then connect to a power source and test the lights once more. Disconnect from power after.
- Remove the adhesive backing, align, and apply to surface.
- Connect to power source.
How many feet of wire will I need?
We tend to recommend a minimum of 25 feet of wire per 5 meters to ensure you have enough in case cutting mistakes are made.
Are white LED strips dimmable?
Yes, most of our white LED strip lights are dimmable from 0-100%. There are remotes and wall dimmers that can be used to control the brightness of strips.
How do I control the CCT of the white led strip lights?
To control the CCT, you will need a tunable LED light strip and and a controller. Most of our tunable white LED strip lights are able to change between 3000-6500K CCT.
What kind of controller do I need?
Depending on the LED light strips you choose, you have the option to control them with a remote, smartphone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wall switch, or inline wired controllers.
We offer controllers that only adjust the brightness to controllers that can be used to change the colors, brightness, CCTs, and modes.
What voltage do I need for my strip lights?
This depends on your application. If you are mounting them in a vehicle, a 12-volt strip most likely would be required. For most applications, 12 volts will work unless you want longer runs, in which a 24-volt strip would be ideal.
How do I know if the strip lights I have are submersible, weatherproof, or waterproof? What is the difference?
