Keeps me safe while bicycle commuting
I commute 12-miles, daily, by bicycle - I am known by my co-workers for the flashing red lights mounted on the back rack. The lights are a pair of these truck trailer lights, arranged in an upside-down "V" pattern. They are visible for a great distance in the dark on country roads and gives drivers every chance to avoid running into me.
The flasher controller is the same as used on emergency vehicles with 7 different alternating patterns. My first design had one yellow and one red light, but when the battery was drawing down, the yellow light would not illuminate, suggesting it requires full 12-V voltage to function. Red works even when the battery is running down, so I have replaced the yellow light with a red one.
