Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Know What Bulb Fits My Car?
The bulb you should use for your car will depend on the year, make, and model, and where the bulb is going to be installed– front exterior, rear exterior, interior, etc. We have made this process easier with our vehicle bulb finder. This tool allows you to simply select the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and it will provide you with the compatible bulbs. Most vehicle owner's manuals provide information on the type and size of bulbs used in your vehicle. Your manual is the most reliable source of information. Or, check the existing bulbs. If you can access your vehicle's headlights, taillights, or interior lights, you can remove the current bulbs and check their size and type. Typically, the manufacturer prints this information on the bulb.
What is CAN Bus and CAN Bus Bulbs?
CAN Bus, or "Controller Area Network" bus, allows different electronic systems to communicate through a shared data bus in modern vehicles. The CAN bus system allows fast and efficient communication between vehicle systems (e.g., the engine, transmission, anti-lock braking system (ABS), and airbags) for better performance, safety, and reliability. The CAN bus system is essential for the proper function of many modern vehicle features, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and electronic stability control (ESC). CAN Bus systems can be used for diagnostic purposes, allowing mechanics to quickly and accurately diagnose issues with the vehicle's electronic systems.
CAN bus LED Bulbs are designed for installation in CAN Bus-equipped vehicles. You may also see other vehicle bulbs called “CAN Bus Ready” or “CAN Bus Compatible,” which means they can be installed in vehicles with CAN Bus lighting systems. Installing CAN Bus bulbs can also eliminate ‘bulb out’ warnings in your vehicle due to their built-in resistors, which can mimic the power created by a halogen bulb.
Where Can I Install These Bulbs in My Car or Pickup Truck?
We carry a vast product offering of bulbs, making it easy to elevate the lighting in various parts of your vehicle. For the exterior of your vehicle, we carry headlights, taillights, daytime running lights, brake lights, turn lights, license plate lights, reverse lights, and more.
We also carry lights for the interior of the vehicle. Our mini wedge bulbs, instrument cluster, BA9s & BA7s, festoon base bulbs, and bayonet bulbs can be used for vanity, dashboard, map, dome, trunk lights, and more. Additionally, we have pod lights, light bars, and rock lights, which can be installed on your truck for off-roading.
Will LED Lights Cause Glare to Other Drivers?
Unaligned or poorly installed LEDs could cause glare to other drivers. Ensure your LEDs are correctly installed to protect other drivers on the road and avoid shining too much light into traffic.
Do I Need a Load Resistor?
Load resistors could be needed if you’ve noticed hyperflashing or ‘bulb-out’ warnings from your vehicle after swapping out older vehicle bulbs with LEDs. This is because LEDs use less power to operate, and vehicles that have previously had HID or halogen bulbs may not register the LEDs. Installing load resistors fixes this because they mimic the current power created by those traditional bulbs, allowing your vehicle to register it. Use the Vehicle Bulb Finder previously mentioned to also find the right load resistor for your vehicle.
What Are the Benefits of Using LED Car, Truck, and SUV Bulbs?
Using LEDs in your vehicle will allow for multiple benefits. One of these is the increased energy efficiency. LEDs require less power to operate than traditional lighting, allowing these fixtures to last longer and reduce the frequency of maintenance and replacements. These lights also provide powerful illumination, ensuring drivers have the necessary vsisbility wehn driving at night or in harsh weather conditions, increasing safety. LEDs will also be more beneficial to your vehicle’s battery life and cause less strain than halogen or HID bulbs.
This Automotive LED Bulb Looks Longer Than My Stock Bulb. Will It Fit My Vehicle?
The length of an automotive LED bulb doesn’t necessarily determine if it will fit your vehicle. The most crucial factor is the bulb's base type, which must match the socket in your vehicle. Once you determine the correct bulb size and base type, check the dimensions of the LED bulb. This ensures the bulb will fit in the available space in your vehicle. Some LED vehicle bulbs may have larger heat sinks or components that could interfere with other parts of your car.
