What Does a Constant Current Driver Do?
Constant current LED drivers are designed to maintain and regulate a consistent current, measured in milliamps (mA) or amps (A), for an LED. LEDs require a specific current to operate correctly, so constant current drivers adjust the voltage to maintain this required current. These drivers differ from constant voltage power supplies, which are designed to provide a stable output voltage regardless of fluctuations in the main power line. Super Bright LEDs offers three types of constant current drivers: replacement drivers, emergency drivers, and programmable drivers.
Types of Constant Current Drivers
Replacement Drivers
Replacement constant current drivers are typically used to replace failing or outdated LED drivers in high-powered industrial lights and retrofit light kits. Before selecting a replacement driver, there are a variety of specifications you must match to your existing driver.
Emergency Backup Drivers
Emergency backup drivers provide reliable backup power to lighting systems during power outages and emergency situations. These devices are often required in commercial and industrial structures to meet building compliance codes.
Programmable Drivers
Programmable LED drivers allow you to easily control the dimming percentage and current output of one or multiple compatible drivers. Pair with an LED Driver Programming Device and use a software application for full control.
