Product Information
- Your vehicle may require an LED compatible Flasher or Load Resistor. LED brake/tail lamps will not flash with most stock flasher units due to their extremely low current draw. Try our Vehicle LED Bulb Finder to find a compatible flasher for your vehicle. Please See More LED Car Bulb Notes
- The supervision resistor built into CAN bus bulbs are not intended to fix turn signal related issues, such as hyperflashing. Please See More CAN Bus Bulb Notes
- CAN Bus bulbs should work with most cars that have computers that notify you if a light bulb is burned out. However, some vehicles still might have issues - due to the unique electrical systems in these types of vehicles. Please See More CAN Bus Bulb Notes
- This bulb is oversize, please see dimensions under Specifications tab.
- For best results the LED color should be the same as the lens color. If bulb is behind a clear lens, use the appropriate color for turn and brake light functions. Please See More LED Car Bulb Notes
- To protect LEDs in marine applications, it is advisable to use a 12 VDC line conditioner to compensate for voltage irregularities common in marine low-voltage systems.
Product Description
CAN Bus LED replacement bulbs can fit numerous RV applications such as dome lights, tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals and side marker lights. This 3156 single-contact bulb has 26 LEDs (5050 SMD) that create a 360° viewing angle for better, allover light emission with reduced hot spots. Produces up to 500 lumens at 6500K. Error-free LED bulbs are designed to communicate with your vehicle's CAN Bus computer system and prevent error messages. Tower-style design with a 16-mm wedge base for easy plug-and-play installation. The energy-efficient bulb has 12V DC operation and is designed to last 30,000 hours on your motorhome—25 times longer than incandescents. Available in cool white, amber and red. Not sold in pairs. Price per bulb.

All specifications are subject to change without notice. 1. CAN Bus LED bulbs are simple plug-and- play LED bulbs which are made specifically for CAN Bus-equipped vehicles. These bulbs work with your vehicle's advanced computer system, so when your vehicle's computer reads them, they respond back correctly. To see if your vehicle operates with a CAN Bus system, simply remove the bulb you're looking to replace, start your vehicle, and if you have a "Bulb Out" message on your dash you have a CAN Bus system. |
Part NO | CCT / Wavelength CCT / Wavelength ![]() | Brightness Brightness For best results, the LED color should be the same as the lens color. If the bulb is behind a clear lens, use the appropriate color for turn and brake light functions. When installed in a housing that has a matching colored lens, red and amber bulbs will appear brighter than white LED bulbs - even though they have lower lumen outputs. As an example: a red lens will filter out all but the red portion of light from a bulb, so if the light being emitted from the bulb is all red, none or very little light will be blocked by the lens. The light from a white LED bulb contains very little light in the red portion of the visible spectrum, so most of the light that contributes to its higher lumen value would be filtered out by a red lens. This makes the white bulb appear dimmer than the red bulb. ![]() | Beam Angle Beam Angle Beam angle is used to express the width of the light emitting from the source. The narrower the beam angle the more focused the light energy is. Comparing two 40 watt lights one with a beam angle of 30(a) and another with a beam angle of 90(b), They both produce the same amount of light output but (a) will appear brighter in the beam angle compared to (b) at the sacrifice of light spread. ![]() | Current Draw @ Operating Voltage Current Draw @ Operating Voltage Current Draw is used to size fuses and wire for a circuit. Current draw is the amount of energy consumed by an LED or LEDs in an electrical circuit at a specific voltage, measured in amps (A) or milliamps (mA). | Price Ea. | Weight | Operating Temperature | |

Lumen meters are a great way to measure white light output but can be deceptive for colored bulb intensity. Lumens measure light wavelengths in all colors of the visible spectrum. Because multiple wavelengths create white light and colored bulbs are a single-wavelength source, colored bulbs will have lower lumen readings. However, they will appear equally as bright as a white bulb. | ![]() |

brighter backup lites on less power
on my 2001 Chevy Lumina "smoothtop"
switched out my 3156 incandecent bulbs to these in cool white -- VERY happy w the results!
my backups [ reverse lites ] can also be activated w a console mounted switch as they include several LED strobes and LED lite panels mounted on the trailer hitch and under the rear sides for scene illumination and warning -- I'd noticed a reluctance of some of the strobes to flash w proper intensity & speed and figured [ even tho the fuse didn't blow ] that the backup circut was overloaded a leetil -- so, I ordered these, changed em out, and *now* the strobes flash proper like and the actual *backup* lites are much brighter

Replace the back up bulb on my F-350 Super Duty
Replaced the 3156 back up bulbs on my 2001 F-350 Super Duty. The old bulbs drew 2 amps each. These new bulbs draw only .5 amps and are 4 times as bright. I mean seriously BRIGHT. Just barely fit, the new bulbs are longer.
Great service and got the bulbs in two days to Colorado.

Problem Installing
The Electrical connection pins on the base of the bulb were superimposed.(Opposite of the existing 3156 bulb) I had to carefully straighten them and bend them the opposite way to make contact with the socket terminals. Also the black plastic base of the bulb was to big to fit through the hole in the fixture bezel. I filed the hole to fit the bulb.(Minimal amount) The bulb was quite bright and works great other than the two glitches I noted!

Super Great
I bought 2 of the cool white and as a replacement for my 04 Mustang's reverse lights and they worked great, super bright and very attractive when you're looking at them, but don't throw out as much light do to the design of the bulb and my light housing. The way a regular incandescent light bulb is shaped it can throw more light to the back of the housing and in turn out on to the road, but since these bulbs have a flat bottom they don't, maybe something to improve on later but never the less still very pleased and would recommend. Will be buying more bulbs from SBL soon.

Very bright....Tight in 2003 F-250
Installed in 1999-2007? ford super duty with stock tail light lenses. They barely fit in the reverse light spot. The base of the bulb was tight in the opening, and the overall length was tight also. I was able to squeeze them in there, but the end of the bulb is touching the inside of the lens. If it were cold out and I tried to do this, I would expect something to break.
They are very bright and much better than the stock incandescent light bulbs. Other applications may not have the fitment problems. If I were buying again, I would get the next shorter one. I'm sure this snug fit will not make these bulbs last as long as they should.
