One Major Downfall
In the last few days I bought two of these for both my truck and my mother's SUV. I was putting some LED strips in mine and she wanted some too. I attached the strip there on the table to give it a try before I mounted it. Box functioned well and has all the modes you could ever want. No problems there.
Yesterday I attempted to mount and, of course, hide it. This is where the downfall comes in, and hard too. This operates on the IR spectrum, like your TV remote does. It states that clearly in the description, although I failed to think that IR would ever be used in this application, given it's rather picky line of sight. Nature of the beast, of course.
The way IR works completely disregards the way that these boxes were (or so I thought) intended to be mounted. Out of sight and hidden. IR doesn't work that way unfortunately, forcing me to leave the box exposed. Thankfully I was able to find a place under my dash where the remote could still see it and vice versa.
