Good quality, superb brightness.
These bulbs are at least 80-90% as bright as the stock incandescent, which is about as good as you can hope to ask for when talking about these applications. Using red bulbs in a red lensed housing, they actually appear slightly brighter than the stock (clear) bulbs because less light is lost passing through the filter. I bought them to use in conjunction with a brake light modulator, since the instant-on properties of LEDs allow you to flash them rapidly and make them more attention-grabbing. They have good spread and coverage so the whole housing lights up. If you need any brighter, get a whelen.
Only downside is the price. A full set of these will set you back a pretty penny.
Just about as bright as incandescent
I bought these for brake/marker lights on my 2012 Fusion. Compared to the O.E. lights, this has a slightly deeper shade of red, with light output so close to standard (both dim and bright modes) that it's hard to discern the difference, but I've come to the conclusion they're not quite as bright as stock. I could still be getting tricked by the difference in shade and apparent lack of a "hot spot" evident from the standard bulb on the reflector.
It's a light
I reviewed the 7440 version of these bulbs as well, and this is more or less the same. They are comparable in brightness to the original brake lights in my Honda Element. I can't speak to their durability over time as I haven't had them for that long, but I don't see anything that would indicate an early failure. I'd recommend them.
