Useful for Outdoor Security Light
I am using this light source with a Raspberry Pi as a motion-activated security system. The light source works very well with the RPi's NoIR camera. Together with this source, they make a low cost system for night time surveillance. It's proven a great system for photographing creatures in the wild. The useful range of the system seems to be about 50 ft with the NoIR Camera.
Although the 18 LEDs are rated 3 Watts each, making a total of what should be 54 Watts, the unit draws only 1300 mA at 12 Volts (15.6Watts). WHY? Seems crazy to have 3 Watt LEDs running at little more than 1 Watt! The unit has a very nice heat sink, so you'd think it should easily dissipate the heat that would accompany a higher drive current. Presently the unit barely gets warm. A mystery....
MUST have for the night owls out there
Purchased this LED bar to install on my F150 for when I'm cruising my fields and woods at night. I mounted a rear view camera on the front bumper just above this LED bar and feed the video to my DVD player in my truck. Perfect for driving around at night without waking up the neighbors with my headlights.

I use this light for night time security cameras and I have it on a timer so it turns on only at night..
I have purchased many items from Superbright LED's and this is the only defective part I have ever had...
I have an electronics degree...
I understand that an LED could be defective due to electronic failure...
I rated this at 3 stars...
With all the LED's working I would give it a 5 star rating...
