Brighter than OEM bulbs
These were a direct replacement to my smart fortwo's license plate bulbs. No additional hardware or tools, just slide the lense to pop it out, then replace the bulb with the LED, making sure to face them towards the lense, maybe turned slightly towards the car as they are quite bright. I'm sure you could read by them. I've had them for about year or so with no issues.
Nice License Plate Light Upgrade
Since there are two of these lamps used, I changed only one lamp, at first, in order to compare them. The LED version was whiter and a bit brighter than the old incandescent type. The key was to make sure the LEDs are pointed towards the lens. This is a bit tricky with this lamp base (Festoon type), but it will work and the result will be good.
