Great LED running light
Needed something to have my truck stand out. I wanted some marker lights like the big rigs but didn't want to over do it. My space was limited and these M3-A6 seemed to fit perfect. I placed the order and received with in 3 days as I always do when ordering from SBL. These only have a hot (12v) wire coming out of them and no ground wire. The screws I was using were just a hair to big so I drilled out the hole in the light. Only then did I notice that there was a metal ring inside the hole where the ground was. Luckily the light still grounded out and functioned so just a heads up. I've been using them for about a month and a half and they have stood up to the elements and vibrations of my diesel. Great product!
Nice, but a poor connection option
I really like this little light, they are great for markers or tail lights on small vehicles, but the fastener/terminal style sucks when doing custom accessory installs. Yes, you can simply mount and then out a ring terminal on the back side of the mounting surface with a second nut to secure, but 2 leads rather than one lead out of the back of the light would be significantly better. I tried looking for that variation here, but wasnt able to find is.
Bad Ground setup, get the one with a Ground Wire
The grounding point drove me insane. I spent WAY too much time messing with different hardware and mounting configurations trying to get a solid ground connection with these. Don't bother trying to rig up ring terminals or direct grounds to each light, you can't use stainless or coated hardware. I had them all working for a couple weeks, then the grounds would work intermittently. More wasted time and troubleshooting. 4 of the 8 I ordered stopped working entirely, even when connected straight on my 12v bench tester.
I wish I would have looked around a bit more before ordering these. I found the EXACT same light, with and ACTUAL ground pigtail wire (instead of the cumbersome "grounded hardware sleeve") from a well known prime site, and they were even less than these guys. I wish SuperBrightLEDs would switch their stock to the ground wire version and toss these.
Hope this helps or ay least prevents someone else from dealing with hours of frustration and head-scratching with these.
