Beam angle is used to express the width of the light emitting from the source. The narrower the beam angle the more focused the light energy is. Comparing two 40 watt lights one with a beam angle of 30(a) and another with a beam angle of 90(b), They both produce the same amount of light output but (a) will appear brighter in the beam angle compared to (b) at the sacrifice of light spread.

great replacement bulb (ryobi worklight)
Replaced the incandescent bulb in a Ryobi worklight which uses their 18v interchangeable battery packs. Surprising performance from a one watt LED. Throws a very narrow spotlight beam. Less heat build up.
Power tool flashlight upgrade.
I purchased these as drop in replacements for a Dewalt and a Hitachi 12V flashlight. With the xenon bulb the standard 1.2 - 1.4 Ah batteries lasted about 1 1/2 hrs vs with these bulbs around 9 hrs. The Xenon bulbs are rated at 280 lumens and put out the yellowish light and appear only slightly brighter than these leds with the colder tint. I also converted a couple of these flashlights to take the 3 watt Cree R2 bulbs and the batteries lasted around 3 hrs and with the hassle to convert these bulbs are the way to go and the flashlight stays stock and the Xenon bulb can be your spare.
I'm not sure what people expect out of a 1W bulb. I wanted a bulb that fit my Mag-lite (2xD cells). The wife takes the dogs out and will leave the stock bulb running for 20 minutes at a time, and a set of two batteries will last a couple of weeks. I was looking for a bulb that would use less power and last longer. I can't speak to the longevity of this bulb yet. After doing vast reading on the internet about different bulbs like this one, they all say it sucks and there's not enough light, it can't focus etc.
I am happy to say that it's all false. If you have realistic expectations out of a bulb and want to upgrade your stock Mag-Lite bulb to an LED, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one. Can you signal extra terrestrial life with it? No. Provide enough light to see approx. (never measured) 100 feet in the dark? Yes (quite nicely, actually). Will it fit properly in the Mag-Lite? Yes. Can you still focus the beam? Yes. Will update with pics and longevity later.
Nice and bright in my Ryobi 18V flashlight
I got this to replace the old filament bulb in my Ryobi FL1800 18V flashlight. With any other flashlight using standard batteries, it probably makes more sense to buy a new flashlight with an LED bulb. But if you have a flashlight where you really need to keep the light, like it uses special batteries that match your other power tools, this is definitely a good option.
The light output is at least as good, if not brighter, than the original, and of course it runs a lot cooler and should be sipping the battery power, relatively speaking.
Stop paying for flashlight bulbs
Dewalt wants $11 bucks for two, and you bump the flashlight you break a filament. Great led not as bright as incandescent but close.
I purchased this to replace a FSL 18 bulb for my Black & Decker flashlight. It is so much brighter than the original bulb. Buy this bulb, you won't be disappointed.
Direct mag-light replacement
As others have noted, the low voltage version of this bulb is a drop-in replacement for 2, 3, 4, and 5 cell Maglight flashlights.
I installed this in a 2D Maglight., and it works fine. The beam is bright, and seems "whiter" than that produced by the incandescent bulb. The batteries were a little weak, and the incandescent bulb was yellowing, but this was bright and white.
The reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is a "dark spot" in the center of the beam with the Maglight. (I think this is due to the shape of the bulb.) I can focus the reflector in or out to get a good beam, but with this bulb, I don't have the smooth beam-to-flood adjustment; if the focus goes wide to flood, the center of the cone goes dark.
It's not enough to cause me to switch back to the incandescent bulb, but it's something to be aware of.
Excellent upgrade to my work light!
When the cheap dim incandescent bulb in my Skil 18V work light burned out and I didn't have a spare, I decided to look for an LED replacement. Of course the first place I checked was SuperBrightLEDs since I've bought lots of vehicle bulbs from you in the past. Wow! The light is way brighter, a cleaner white color, the battery lasts far longer and the lens doesn't get burning hot! The beam no longer has spots in it caused by the filament, it is a smooth but focused beam like the light should have been made in the first place. Plus I never have to worry about replacing it again! Well worth the $15.
Rejuvenated my Craftsman C3 Flashlight
I don't leave many reviews, but I just received and installed this bulb today in my Craftsman C3 Workman flashlight and boy am I impressed. I was worried because the original bulb was already quite bright but it also ran quite hot, so much so that any longer than a few minutes and it was too hot to touch.
Now with this small almighty LED bulb, the light runs just as bright. I've had it on for several minutes straight now and I can't feel any temperature difference on the lens, seeing as how it is a low powered LED, I'm sure I can get several hours from the XCP Lithium-Ion battery.
Definitely recommend for all fitments!
Great replacements for Dewalt lights
I bought these to replace the bulb in my Dewalt DW917 12V flex light. These are great. They seem to be much brighter than the original bulbs.
