First off, the step lighting is good when you are coming down the steps however walking towards the steps you are greeted by a blinding direct view of the LED itself. The "eyelids" are only effective when you are above them. Otherwise it's just an exposed LED. Secondly, the lighting color is inconsistent. Some are a cooler natural light and others have a white look to them. I am not happy with these but unfortunately since I drilled 5/8 holes for installation I believe I'm stuck with them.
It is as described. But the quality of the sealant, seams like just clear silicon it pretty poor. Also, it is flush mount, but the design doesn’t allow it to be mounted in anyway. While taking out the strain relief nut the whole thing came apart which is how I saw the clear silicon. There are much better sealing or potting materials. I threaded the shank so I can actually mount it securely and re sealed the harness/led.
Nice looking but prone to early burn out
Like The form factor and have 15-20 installed as outdoor indirect lighting in my lake home. Agree that a slight design change would eliminate the glare from the LED when seen edge on but it’s fine. My biggest problem is longevity - I run these roughly 5 hours per night and after 12 months, I’ve had to replace at least 50% due to burn out or dimming so badly you can’t see them. 1800 hours isn’t much for an LED and it gets expensive to replace that many and with the form factor you have to replace the whole unit. Wish they charged a bit more but put in higher quality components.
