|Part NO||Beam Angle |
Beam angle is used to express the width of the light emitting from the source. The narrower the beam angle the more focused the light energy is. Comparing two 40 watt lights one with a beam angle of 30(a) and another with a beam angle of 90(b), They both produce the same amount of light output but (a) will appear brighter in the beam angle compared to (b) at the sacrifice of light spread.

small unit, medium brightness light
as the product describes this light gives off about 230 lumens, which in my opinion produced a mid strength light when used for landscape lights. i found that if i placed the unit two feet off the house it would only cast a small beam (kept the house much too dark in my opinion), thus for my application i ended up pointing the lights 5-7 feet off the house to get a wider, but duller application. overall the light unit is ok, but the ground stakes could use some rework. i found these to be made of cheap plastic and lights often came off the stakes or would sit crocked since the plastic is almost "soft" vs. the other Glux stakes i have used for other lights sold on here. it would be great if they replaced these with metal stakes since most people will be placing into hard soil or dirt like material.
Not sure which lamp the other review is about, but this unit has 3 lenses allowing it to be set for the beam width you need, and produces a good amount of light - more than adequate for my needs. I installed 8 of these to illuminate 4 double sided exterior retail store signs, tightest beam, with a light sensor to control them. Other than 1 burnt out fuse on my power supply, the system has worked great and the total price was exceptionally good compared to many other options I researched -
