Overview

EPL series LED Explosion Proof Light improves the task lighting of tough work environments where hazardous gases or fumes are present. Heavy duty exterior is sealed to prevent sparks from internal components, protecting against the conditions of chemical plants, refineries, airplane hangers, and auto shops. Powder coated aluminum and tempered glass construction is lightweight for easy installation, yet durable for corrosion and impact resistance. High powered LEDs illuminate longer, brighter, and safer than 175-watt metal halide, reducing energy and maintenance costs. Install with conduit to maintain safety certification, either direct pole mount or with included U-bracket.

UL 844 requirements cover fixed and portable luminaires for installation and use in the following hazardous (classified) locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70:
  • Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups A, B, C, and D
  • Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G
  • Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G
  • Class III, Divisions 1 and 2
  • Class I, Zones 1 and 2, Groups IIA, IIB, IIB plus Hydrogen, and IIC, and Zone 20, 21 and 22

These requirements cover luminaires for use only under the following atmospheric conditions:
  • A minimum ambient temperature of minus 25°C (minus 13°F)
  • An oxygen concentration not greater than 21 percent by volume; and
  • A nominal barometric pressure of one atmosphere
UL Listed
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) LLC is an independent testing agency that works to verify product safety and quality. A UL-Listed label means that product samples have been tested by UL and that the product meets their Standards for Safety requirements.
LM-79
