Get two dimmers for full brightness
Another review mentioned full brightness could not be achieved with the recommended dimmer, and that the dimmer would only go between 100% cool or 100% warm, and proportionally in between (25% cool, 75% warm, or 50% cool, 50% warm, etc.).
This prompted me to buy instead, two of the iTouch dimmers. I wired them in parallel and can control each cool or warm circuit independently. So I can do any combination of 0-100% cool and 0-100% warm. These strips are really bright!
Thanks!
Good light, but using a tuner limits output
The light strip is good, and bright, and efficient. The downside is that if you use a tunable controller, such as the MCBRF-VCT7 (also seems to work well, btw), it will only get half of the total light output the strip is capable of. You can have all of the cool side LED's on at 100%, or all of the warm side LED's on at 100%, but the transition splits the output, so doing it that way only gets you half the available output, as it balances between the two LED types. The only way to get the advertised light output is to wire this unit direct to the power source (24V), and not use a tuner. This also means that if you use a tuner, you only need half of the suggested power supply, as it takes 2 full strips to get the advertised 71 watts of power consumption. If you know what temperature lighting you want/need/like, then get it, as it will be less expensive. If you're not sure, then this light can be a very good answer, as you can have different temperature settings using only one strip.
Love the look of these lights
We bought 9 reels to fit into flush mounted aluminum channels in our ceiling. It is certainly bright enough at 511 lumens per foot and the variable white color changing works surprisingly well. The number of LEDs per meter are sufficient to create an unbroken line of light once the channel cover is placed on the aluminum channel.
