Fixture Types

Linear Light Fixtures
Linear light fixtures are often used for task lighting. Our wide variety of fixtures in this category makes it easy to find a solution for your application. For example, vapor-tight fixtures provide extra protection from moisture or debris/dust, linkable lights provide an extended length for longer runs, pull chain lights offer a suspended mount, and more.

Retrofit Kits
The retrofit kits provide a convenient way to update existing fluorescent or incandescent lights without requiring a full fixture replacement. These retrofit kits can be used with troffers and various linear/strip light fixtures that feature existing 32W fluorescent T8 tubes. The magnetic kits easily attach to the fixture, eliminating installation confusion.

Screw Base Bulbs
The screw base bulbs are a great lighting solution for ambient overhead lighting.
Corn bulbs and standard glass bulbs are available, with E26 and E27 bases. Corn bulbs feature multiple rows of LED chips integrated onto the bulb, creating more powerful lighting.
Certifications
A majority of our fixtures are backed by certifications, indicating their high quality and safety.
Common certifications include:
- Underwriter Laboratories (UL) Certified/Listed: Products with a UL certification have been tested under rigorous safety standards to ensure they are safe to install.
-
Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL) Listed: ETL is another strict safety regulation available for light fixtures that meet North American safety standards, tested by Intertek.
-
DesignLights Consortium (DLC) Listed: Fixtures with a DLC Listing have better light quality and energy efficiency. Certain utility companies will offer rebates for using DLC Listed lights. Check with the companies in your area to see what benefits are available.

How Difficult Are These Fixtures to Install?
Our fixtures provide straightforward installation, especially our plug-and-play options, which install without additional wiring or installation materials. Our products requiring additional wiring setups, mounting brackets, connectors, or other materials will typically include the necessary hardware. If you’re uncertain about the exact installation steps or need more information, check out our ‘User Manuals’ for specific steps.
How to Wire LED Shop Lights
Our magnetic strip kits are the most likely fixtures in this category to require additional wiring setups. Disconnect power before beginning installation. Connect the wires on the fixture to the driver’s output. Verify you’re connecting the correlated wires to the appropriate power. The line wire on the light connects to the black wire on the driver, the neutral wire connects to the white wire, and the ground wire connects to the green wire. Secure connections with the wire connectors.
However, not all shop lights require wiring for installation. Always verify installation type.
Can Garage Lighting Improve Safety?
You should always have adequate lighting in both residential standard garages and workshops. Properly installed lights ensure adequate visibility when moving throughout the space and operating vehicles. When being used in a shop area, uniform lighting makes completing work easier and increases safety when dealing with tools or machinery.
How Long Will LEDs Last in My Garage?
Due to their high energy efficiency, LEDs typically have a lifespan of at least 50,000 hours. This is significantly greater than fluorescent or incandescent shop lights. The longevity of these lights will not only reduce the frequency of maintenance and replacements, but will also save you money over time.
When Should I Use an Integrated vs. an LED Ready Fixture?
Fixtures are either integrated with LEDs or are LED ready. Integrated lights have LED chips built directly into the fixture. LED ready fixtures just include the housing for the fixture, and require the actual LED bulb or tube to be installed separately. Integrated LEDs have longer lifespans and an easier installation. LED ready fixtures are ideal if you have a compatible tube or bulb you want to install and offer a lower upfront cost.
However, when deciding between both, consider that our garage and shop LED ready fixtures are linear light fixtures. Therefore, LED ready fixtures should be used for task or accent lighting, but aren’t suitable for general overhead lighting.
