Track lights are adjustable fixtures that allow you to focus the light where it’s needed. For flexibility, choose a track light with selectable beam angles, either 10°-60° or 15°-60°. We carry both integrated track lights with LEDs built into them and LED-ready track lights, which can be installed with an E26/E27 bulb. In retail settings, these can direct lighting onto product displays or over checkout areas. In offices, use these to direct light on desks/workstations or onto signs. Track lights with a 90+ CRI are available.

Flush mount lights are a type of downlight which are installed surface-mounted to the ceiling. These lights are usually round, but we do carry a square option. Sizes range from 5 to 14 inches. We carry flush-mount lights with selectable CCTs and black, white, and satin nickel finishes. For offices, install flush mount lights in personal offices or in conference rooms. In retail settings, you can use flush mount lights in fitting rooms or as overhead lighting in smaller stores.

Fixtures compatible with Networked Lighting Controls (NLC) will have an increased level of connectivity. NLCs use a Bluetooth MESH network to connect all the fixtures for simultaneous control. Operate NLC fixtures with a smart app that allows you to schedule, dim, change the CCT of your lights, and more. These fixtures can include UFO high bays, panel lights, and troffer lights.

Exit Signs and Emergency LightingExit Signs and Emergency Lighting
Exit Signs & Emergency Lighting

Exit signs and emergency lighting are required for the safety of your employees and customers. Exit signs indicate the nearest exit in an emergency. Emergency lights provide additional lighting if there’s a power outage and can guide people to safety. Our combo lights are a mixture of both. Since New York City has its own requirements for emergency lights, we carry NYC-compliant fixtures that comply with the code.

Tube LightsTube Lights

Use tube lights to upgrade fluorescent tubes. Our tubes come in 2, 4, and 8 feet. We also carry 8 foot kits, which feature two 4 foot tubes which can be connected together to replace a 4 foot fluorescent tube. Choose between T5, T8, T9, and T12 tube tights. In office spaces and retail stores, these commonly retrofit fluorescent troffer lights and can provide efficient overhead lighting above workspaces or throughout store aisles. Ballast options include Type A, Type B Single End and Dual End, Type A/B Hybrid, and Type A/B 3-in-1 Universal.

LED Retrofit KitsLED Retrofit Kits
LED Retrofit Kits

Retrofit kits include all the materials needed to replace traditional lighting with LEDs. Instead of having to complete a full fixture replacement, these allow you to swap out a tube. Retrofitting is usually cheaper and leads to an easier installation process. Retrofit options are available for strip light fixtures and troffers. The retrofits for troffer lights include light bars with a magnetic backing that can be easily attached to the existing housing.

LED strip tape lights are adhesive, flexible light solutions that can be cut to the needed length of your application. These strips come in various CCTs, colors, lengths, and voltages. Choose our strips with a high 90+ CRI for the best color rendering. In retail settings, they can be installed along shelves and product displays to accentuate the clothes. For office settings, they can be installed along desks or under overhead cabinets.

Office and Retail Lighting FAQs

What Are the Types of Lighting Used in an Office or Retail Space?

Retail lighting requires various types of layered lighting to serve different purposes. Install task lighting above registers or to lead customers around the store; this can be done with track lights or tube lights. Ambient overhead lighting provides illumination throughout the whole shop and is often done with recessed downlights, flush mount lights, panel lights, troffer lights, or high bays for ceilings at least 18 feet off the ground. Accent lighting is used to highlight product displays using track or strip lights.

For office lighting, you can use recessed downlights, panel lights, tube lights, or troffer lights for overhead lighting throughout an office space. Install track lights to provide additional lighting over workspaces or to highlight company signs. Use retrofit kits to swap out your existing lighting.

For both retail and office spaces, you must have exit signs to help individuals find their way out of the store and additional emergency lights to provide additional lighting in an emergency. All of these lights feature a 90-minute battery backup.

How Will the Lighting I Choose Affect A Customer’s Time In Store?

Proper lighting ensures customers spend longer in the store and elevates their experience. One way is strategically installing the lights so customers can see and assess the products accurately. Additionally, traditional lighting creates glare or flicker, leading to eye strain, which can reduce the time customers spend in the store. However, installing LEDs eliminates the risk of these effects, increasing the customer experience.

What CRI and CCT Do I Need for My Retail or Office Space?

For a retail space, your lights should have a 90+ CRI to guarantee the products are accurately shown to help assist shoppers. For office spaces, an 80+CRI is recommended; however, if you complete work where coloring is important, use lighting with a 90+ CRI.

Installing dimmable and smart-compatible fixtures allows you to customize lighting. Use smart control fixtures to schedule your lights to power on and off at the same time daily to conserve energy, change the CCT, and more. You can also use a fixture that uses Networked Lighting Controls (NLC) to control multiple fixtures at once and dim your lights. These also have motion sensors attached.

Using dimmable lights will reduce the amount of energy used. If you plan to take advantage of the natural light from windows, fixtures compatible with daylight harvesting adjust light output based on available natural daylight.

How Many Lumens Do I Need For an Office Space or Retail Setting?

The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) recommends different footcandles and lux based on the area of the office. For general and private office areas, they recommend 50-100 fc and 538-1,076 lx, for conference rooms 20-70 fc and 215-753 lx, and 20 fc and 215 lx for corridors.

For a retail store, the circulation area should have 10-30 fc and 108-323 lx. For highlighting merchandise, servicing areas where employers assist in shopping the product, such as in a jewelry shop, 30-100 fc and 323-1,076 lx is recommended. Use 200 fc and 2,152 lx for merchandising with a self-servicing layout where customers can walk around and select the items they want themselves i.e., in a grocery store.

What Does OSHA Say About Office Lighting?

OSHA regulations for lighting are in place to increase workplace safety. A big focus of these regulations for workstation environments is reducing glare on computer screens through requirements on lighting installation. For example, one regulation states that the fixtures should be installed parallel to the employee’s line of sight and where the desks will be positioned. They also mandate that desks and workspaces have ample task lighting while not causing glare. Refer to the code for more specific regulations.
