Linear High Bay Definition 

Linear high bay LED lights are rectangular fixtures that evenly distribute light. We carry linear high bays in lengths ranging from 1 to 4 feet. They should be installed on ceilings at least 18 feet from the ground.

Standard

Standard high bay linear LED lights are made of durable aluminum housing with polycarbonate lenses. Beam angles range from 90° to 120° (medium to wide). We carry dimmable LED linear light fixtures with 0-10V dimming.  

NSF Washdown Certified

Our NSF-certified fixtures meet the requirements of the National Sanitation Foundation to ensure they can be properly cleaned and withstand high-pressure sprays. They are often found in commercial kitchens, food processing plants, and freezer areas.

Sensor-Ready

Sensor-ready linear high bay lights are built with the option to install motion sensors. To increase energy efficiency, install sensors that power lights off after a period of inactivity. Installing daylight sensors will adjust the light output based on the available natural light. Networked Lighting Control (NLC) sensors add an increased level of controllability for fixtures. NLC features allow you to control multiple lights at once, schedule these fixtures, dim the lights, and more.

High-Temperature 

The high-temperature high bays are built with materials that can withstand extensive ambient temperatures. Install them to prevent malfunctions caused by overheating. Our high-temperature high bays can operate in ambient temperatures up to 65°C (149°F).  

Why Should I Use LED Linear High Bays?

Using LED linear high bays in your commercial or industrial application has many benefits: 

• LED high bays provide uniform, sufficient lighting without creating glare.

• The high bays are energy efficient, minimizing replacement and electricity costs.

• These lights can be used for retrofitting fluorescent fixtures and new applications.

• Select linear high bays can be dimmed with 0-10V dimming. 

What CCT Do I Need For My Linear High Bays? 

The Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) refers to the hue of white emitted. Our UFO high bays range from 3000K (warm white) to 5000K (natural white). The recommended CCT will depend on the purpose of the area. If the high bays are installed in auditoriums or cafeterias, you would opt for the warmer white; however, for high bays in a supermarket or food processing plants, you should have a more natural white. Certain linear high bays offer selectable CCT, allowing you to set the desired value during installation while simplifying ordering for your project. 

How Far Apart Should I Space My High Bays? 

Having proper spacing for your linear high bay LED lights ensures a uniform light distribution. To do this, consider the number of fixtures you need and the ceiling height. Since footcandles increase the farther the light fixture is away from the ground, lights installed higher off the ground will be spaced farther apart. 

• Install lights 12-15 feet apart for ceilings under 20 feet.

• Install lights 15-20 feet apart for ceilings between 20 and 30 feet.

• Install lights 20-30 feet apart for ceilings above 30 feet. 

Next, consider what beam angle you need for your space. We carry linear high bays with beam angles ranging from 90° to 120°, which provides medium-wide distribution. However, the specific beam spread will vary based on the ceiling height. It is important to balance light intensity with the fixtures beam angle, especially for areas with higher ceilings. High bays with a narrower beam angle will ensure that more light reaches the ground, but may require installing a greater number of fixtures. Luminaires with wider beam angles offer greater coverage, but higher lumen output fixtures may be needed to ensure sufficient ground illumination.
