Overview

This LED flood light emits 42,000 lumens of cool white illumination and has a wide Type III distribution pattern. The 300-watt LED fixture is designed to replace 1,000-watt metal-halide (MH) lights with comparable output. It has a waterproof die cast aluminum housing and a polycarbonate lens. Securely mount the fixture using the included adjustable knuckle slipfitter mount. Adjust the mount between 90°-270°. Install for parking lot lighting, warehouse lighting, or campus lighting.

Dimming Type TRIAC Dimming: Triode for alternating current (TRIAC) dimming is used to control high-voltage dimmable power supplies such as Magnitude Dimmable Power Supplies. These dimmable power supplies work by varying the power on the AC input side of the power supply by means of a TRIAC dimmer. This change in power on the AC input side will vary the voltage on the DC output side and control the intensity of the LEDs. TRIAC dimmers are common hardware store and household dimmers, which include brand names such as Lutron and Leviton. Pulse-Width Modulation Dimming: Pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming can be used to control dimmable power supplies such as Mean Well HLG Series and Mean Well LPF Series. This type of dimming control adjusts the output current based on the duty cycle. As the duty cycle increases, current will increase and the LEDs will be brighter. Conversely, if the duty cycle decreases, the current will decrease and the LEDs will be dimmer. Pulse-width modulation for these drivers is based on a 10V signal level with a frequency between 100Hz~3KHz. The MCBRF-4A or MLD-5A are compatible for this application. Resistive Dimming: Resistive dimming can be used to control dimmable power supplies such as Mean Well HLG Series. The resistance can be fixed or variable. If a fixed level of dimming is required, a simple resistor is all that is needed to dim the LEDs to a particular level. If a varying dimmable level is desired, a potentiometer can serve this purpose. By changing the resistance value of the potentiometer, the output current of the power supply changes, and the LED intensity changes. Controlling a single power supply will require a 100K ohm potentiometer for 100% intensity (100K ohm) to approximately 10% intensity (10K ohm) based on where the wiper is positioned. 1-10V Dimming: 1-10V dimming can be used to control dimmable power supplies such as 12V Mean Well HLG-40~240 Series or 24V Mean Well HLG-40~240 Series. This type of dimming control is an older style for compatible dimmable power supplies and is being replaced with 0-10V dimmer control. 1-10V dimming control works by varying the voltage from 1-10 VDC. A 10-volt signal on the dimming wire will allow for maximum current to flow to the LEDs for maximum intensity. A 1-volt signal on the dimming wire allows 10% of the current to flow from the power supply, which generates approximately 10% of the maximum intensity for the LEDs. 0-10V Dimming: 0-10V dimming can be used to control dimmable power supplies such as 12V Mean Well HLG-600 Series or 24V Mean Well HLG-600 Series. This type of dimming control is the most popular and newest style for compatible dimmable power supplies. 0-10V dimming control works by varying the voltage from 0-10 VDC. A 10-volt signal on the dimming wire will allow for maximum current to flow to the LEDs for maximum intensity. Photocell What is a Photocell and How Does It Work? When an LED light is equipped with a photocell, the light will turn on and off automatically based on the available ambient light. Their unique functionality makes them ideal for outdoor area lighting specifically. Photocells are variable resistors that change the resistance in an electrical circuit depending on the amount of light present where they are mounted. Because of this, they must be mounted in exposed areas where they receive adequate light to function. Photocells, or photocontrols, come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be integrated into a luminaire or be an added accessory depending on the light. Can a Photocell Be Bypassed? Some lights allow for a photocell to be bypassed as needed. When the photocell is bypassed, it allows for the luminaire to remain on constantly or be controlled by an existing switch or timer. Depending on the type of photocell and how it is installed in the fixture, it may be bypassable using a shorting cap, a slide or DIP switch, or by unplugging the photocell. Consult the user’s manual of the light to confirm which option(s) may be applicable and how to implement them safely. Always use caution and turn off supply power before working on wiring of any type. Shorting Cap Photocells on many commercial applications like parking lot and area lighting applications are mounted externally with a twist-lock socket or adapter. Swapping this for a shorting cap simply closes the circuit on your LED light fixture, which keeps your light in an always-on state. This allows it to be controlled externally as well if a central photocell or switch system is being utilized. DIP Switch or Slide Switch While DIP switches and standard slide switches function differently in most cases, when integrated into the photocontrol system of a light they perform the same function. Switches like these are common on canopy and dusk-to-dawn barn lights. These types of switches allow you to toggle the photocell sensor on or off to fit your needs without any rewiring or replacing parts. Disconnect the Wiring Some photocell designs, such as those commonly found in wall packs, allow the operator to simply unplug the photocell to allow the light to work in an always-on state or be controlled by an external switch. This alternate lens set lets you use your 300-Watt LED Shoebox/Area/Flood Light (part #: ALD) for any application or location. The set includes 2 lenses. Choose from 5 distribution options:

Type II:
This distribution type is great for long, narrow roadways, smaller side streets, long paths or sidewalks, and ramps. Use it near the side of narrow roadways where width doesn't exceed 1.75 times the mounting height.

Type III-S:
This lens can be used for roadways and small parking areas. Its beam is taller than Type II (just as long) and narrower than the Type III-M lens that's included with your area light. When using this lens, the light's maximum light intensity point will be 1-2.25 times the mounting height.

Type IV:
Area lights with this distribution type are often mounted on the sides of buildings and on the perimeter of parking areas. It's also great for basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. Roadway width shouldn't exceed 3.7 times the mounting height.

Type V:
This circular distribution type has nearly the same intensity at all angles. It's designed for 4-way intersections, large parking lots, and roadway islands.

NEMA 6x5:
This lens is best for flood lighting applications, such as wall washing, building facades, and security lighting.
