High-Performance Commercial Downlights Features
Commercial spaces require high-performance downlights for efficient and effective lighting. These versatile fixtures offer advanced light output options to meet the specific lighting needs of various applications and settings. Commercial downlights also feature certain design attributes that make them ideal for installation in commercial spaces.
Selectable Color Temperature and Wattage
Downlights with selectable correlated color temperature (CCT) and selectable power options allow you to tailor your lighting to the exact needs of your store or building. Select lower or higher wattages depending on how dim or bright you want your space. Choose a warmer color temperature for commercial areas that require a comfortable ambiance. For high-alert areas, choose cooler color temperatures.
Dimmable
Dim the brightness of your downlights to elicit the desired atmosphere of your commercial space. Bright lighting is most suitable for offices and shopping centers, while dimmer lighting can be used to create a comfortable ambiance in restaurants and stores. Most commercial downlights are 0-10V dimmable, which allows for daisy-chaining light fixtures.
High Operating Voltage
Most commercial spaces have a higher voltage line than residential spaces. Commercial downlights are able to support high input voltages ranging up to 347 VAC.
IC Rated
If your LED downlights come in contact with insulation, they must be IC rated. IC rated lights are required by most building codes to prevent the risk of fire.
High CRI
Choose a downlight with a high CRI for spaces where accurate color rendering is important, such as retail stores or workshops. This will allow the colors of the merchandise and artwork to be shown in their truest form.
Spring Clips
Many retail stores and workspaces have drop ceilings and rafters, which limits the types of lights that can be installed. Our commercial downlights use a variety of spring clips to allow for easy installation in ceilings not equipped with can housing.
Commercial Downlight Applications
Recessed downlights are the ideal lighting solution for a variety of commercial spaces. Downlights provide a wide, downward beam perfect for general area lighting, and their recessed design allows them to integrate seamlessly into ceilings. These lights are commonly found in workplaces such as offices, classrooms, schools, hospitals, workshops, and conference rooms where modern, subtle lighting is preferred. In commercial settings, downlights are great for shopping centers, restaurants, retail stores, and hotels.
Maximize Light Efficiency
For large commercial spaces requiring a considerable amount of light, it is important to maximize the light output while minimizing energy costs. Recessed downlights with reflector trims are designed for maximum light efficiency. Their smooth, reflective surface disperses light over a larger area to provide sufficient area lighting. This trim is also commonly used for spaces with high ceilings, as the reflectors help direct light downward.
Choosing LEDs over incandescent or metal halide lights will also help lower energy consumption and maintenance costs over time. LEDs use considerably less energy than traditional lighting solutions to produce the same bright light output. They also have a longer lifetime: most of our commercial downlights have an L70 rating of up to 50,000 hours. This means fewer replacement fixtures and reduced replacement costs.
Enhance Visual Comfort
Glare-free lighting is important in certain retail and commercial settings to help create a comfortable environment for patrons. In offices and classrooms where people frequently read, write, or work on computers, glare-free lights can prevent eye strain and headaches. In retail stores and shopping centers where customers spend time browsing and looking at merchandise, excessive glare could lead to a negative shopping experience.
Deep recessed lights help reduce glare since the light source is positioned further back from the ceiling. By recessing the light source deeper into the ceiling, the edges of the fixture prevent the light from shining directly into peoples’ eyes. Recessed lighting with diffusers and frosted lenses also helps disperse light particles for smooth illumination. You can install deep recessed downlights directly into drop ceilings or spaces without an existing can housing by choosing lights with spring clips.
Compliance with National Testing Standards
Commercial LED downlights from Super Bright LEDs meet a variety of standards and certifications, including being Energy Star Certified, ETL Listed, and UL Certified. The Energy Star certification guarantees our downlights meet strict energy efficiency guidelines to reduce environmental impact. Downlights listed to ETL and UL meet North American safety and testing standards for electrical safety. The UL Classified rating applies exclusively to retrofit products and ensures they meet the Underwriters Laboratories' stringent safety and performance standards.
We also carry a line of commercial-rated recessed downlights that are compliant with CEC Title 24 JA8. JA8 lists high-efficacy requirements for luminaires, ballasts, and drivers in residential and commercial buildings. Compliance with this code is required for new construction projects in California.
