This product meets health and safety requirements set forth by the European Union (EU) Directive 1999/92/EC regarding the classification of hazardous zones in the workplace. It also meets the requirements of Directive 2014/34/EU regarding the sale of equipment in the EU market that will be used in explosive atmospheres.
UL844
UL 844 requirements cover fixed and portable luminaires for installation and use in the following hazardous (classified) locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70:
  • Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups A, B, C, and D
  • Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G
  • Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G
  • Class III, Divisions 1 and 2
  • Class I, Zones 1 and 2, Groups IIA, IIB, IIB plus Hydrogen, and IIC, and Zone 20, 21 and 22

These requirements cover luminaires for use only under the following atmospheric conditions:
  • A minimum ambient temperature of minus 25°C (minus 13°F)
  • An oxygen concentration not greater than 21 percent by volume; and
  • A nominal barometric pressure of one atmosphere
UL Listed
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) LLC is an independent testing agency that works to verify product safety and quality. A UL-Listed label means that product samples have been tested by UL and that the product meets their Standards for Safety requirements.
LM-79
Products that are LM-79 certified have been tested for photometric and electrical data by an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized laboratory. The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) created LM-79-08—Approved Method: Electrical and Photometric Measurements of Solid-State Lighting Products—to establish guidelines and procedures for the testing of solid-state lighting (SSL) products such as LED fixtures. Procedures are listed for luminous flux, electrical power, luminous intensity distribution, and chromaticity. See documentation section under specifications for available report.
SAA
Standards Australia (SAA) is a company that establishes guidelines and rules known as Standards. In an effort to create a sustainable environment, these Standards are designed to ensure that products are safe and function consistently. Products with an SAA label were tested and comply with set Standards.
CE
In order for certain products within controlled categories, such as electrical and electronic devices, to be legally sold in the European Economic Area, they must bear a CE label, which stands for Conformité Européenne (European Conformity). Products with this label meet environmental, health, and safety standards put into place by European legislation.
RoHS Compliant

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. Certain materials used in electronics and electrical products have been deemed hazardous to people and the environment and, therefore, must be limited. For a product to be RoHS compliant, testing must be performed and documented to show limited or no use of cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead, mercury, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.
